Welcome to my first ever “Taking Stock” post! This was inspired by (and stolen with permission) from Marisa, who found it here.
Making: my classroom ready for the incoming 5th graders!
Cooking: these chicken sausages, one of my favorite easy weeknight meals.
Drinking: tea in one of my favorite mugs.
Reading: The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle by Haruki Murakami, which I really should have finished by now.
Wanting: a coffee table for my apartment, this one, to be exact. I know it’s cheap as hell, but right now I’m buying cheap furniture until we settle somewhere.
Looking: forward to seeing my students again! I really miss them.
Playing: Bananagrams, one of my favorite games! It’s like Scrabble, but fast-paced, and super fun to play with a few beers and your loved ones.
Wasting: time writing this, instead of going into school to set-up my classroom.
Wishing: for a smooth transition into the school year.
Enjoying: the last few days I get to watch the Price is Right.
Waiting: for tonight, because we’re going to a Mets game for free!
Liking: this “Taking Stock” thing, I think I might stick to it.
Wondering: if we’re going to really go to Montreal this October, like we say we want to.
Loving: my boyfriend. I know that’s super cheesy, but he takes care of me so well, especially lately.
Hoping: I get to see my family soon. It is so incredibly hard being so far away from my family, especially since we’re so close.
Marveling: at my little brother’s life. Check out his instagram!
Needing: to get ready so I can go into work and be productive.
Smelling: the lingering smell from our breakfast. When you live in a one-room apartment, the smell from cooking seeps into everything and seems to never go away.
Wearing: Chris’s sweatpants.
Following: Marisa’s Blog, every damn day, looking for inspiration (hence this post).
Noticing: how happy writing in this blog has made me.
Knowing: that I still need to write more often.
Thinking: that I’m going to start writing poetry again (privately, in a notebook), since I sat up in bed at 1:30am last night to jot some verses in the notes of my phone, before they were lost forever.
Feeling: awake, and ready for the day.
Bookmarking: this recipe for chicken- which is, without a doubt, the best chicken I’ve ever made/eaten… and I’m not even a big chicken fan.
Opening: the plethora of packages I’ve had to order to my school/apartment containing things I need for my classroom. Being a teacher is expensive.
Giggling: at everything and anything with my best friend, Britty, whose birthday is tomorrow!
Feeling: like I want it to be the weekend again, drinking coffee on our fire escape with my love.
